Your Role
As a Transport Planner you will be part of a highly dedicated and professional team, which is responsible for delivering the highest quality of service and with the most optimal cost to an internationally dedicated client base. The main purpose of your role is to be responsible for a correct settlement of all transport orders of the customers of P&O Ferrymasters, linked to the administrative and operational activities of all employees involved. Maintaining a correct and timely flow of communication between Customer Service and hauliers / drivers, to achieve optimum performance and maximum efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking care of a correct settlement of all transport orders wherein P&O Ferrymasters client’s wishes / demands are central.
- Combining loads to optimize the load factor, taking in account of loading / unloading areas, wishes / demands of clients, specific load characteristics and combined loading regulations.
- Calculating and recalculating of dimensions, capacity, floor space and size / weight ratio, in order to gain maximum efficiency within legal standards.
- Communicating with drivers / hauliers so that an optimal service and loading rate can be achieved.
- Making sure that all changes, delays, extra costs and / or calamities are communicated to the Customer Service Department, who will inform the customers.
- Confirming, or taking care of confirmation, of the above to the drivers / hauliers.
- Deciding which loads can be handled by our own fleet and which loads will have to be chartered, so that an optimal balance will be created for our own fleet.
- Reducing so-called “empty kilometers” by combining loads and searching for repositioning loads.
- Checking data after loading and comparing this data with booking details. Communicating anomalies to the Customer Service department.
- When involved in temperature controlled activities, to be trained and adhere to Company standards on the carriage of foodstuffs.
- Be aware of, and act in accordance with, all P&O Ferrymasters policies
- Bring to the attention of your manager any matter that could be detrimental to the wellbeing of the Company
- Carry out any other duties which may reasonably be required by your manage.
Your profile
- Topographical knowledge
- Used to using MS Office
- English language
- A minimum of 2 years work experience
- MBO-level or equivalent, preferably logistics-related education
- Ability to quickly adjust
- Accuracy and customer-oriented
- Strong communication skills
