Your Role
As a Freight Sales Manager you will be part of a highly dedicated and professional team, which is responsible for delivering the highest quality of service to an internationally dedicated client base. The main purpose of your role is to acquire good quality new business from existing and potential clients, ensuring that at all times revenue opportunities are maximised. Proactively identify and secure additional loads in collaboration with the operational team.
Key Responsibilities
- To play an active part in the company’s commercial development and to contribute innovative ideas for the development of the business across the full range of the company products.
- To establish close relationships with customers ensuring that all potential business opportunities are explored.
- Proactively seek out additional loads in collaboration with the operational team.
- To generate new business and meet sales targets according to the KPIs set.
- To develop relationships to gain a thorough understanding of the customer’s requirements and to ensure that the customer’s expectations are met and exceeded.
- To resolve customer issues requested by colleagues and managers.
- To establish close working relationships with all key operations within the business.
- To understand the company’s operational processes in accepting bookings through collection, shipment and delivery.
- To submit thorough sales reports in respect of all customer visits, including identifying all possible business opportunities.
- To review confirmed bookings summary and ensure that customers with diminished load counts are contacted to understand why. This means undertaking full reviews and investigations to establish reasons for changes in volumes, escalate service problems and work to resolve all issues to recover any business lost.
- To keep the CRM updated with all information on new and existing clients and any business opportunities.
- To be involved with key projects as required
- To understand the company’s customer service policy
- To increase revenue at every opportunity.
- To optimise revenue from both current and new clients.
- To sell the organisation in the best way possible.
- Extract order data from the system to analyse profitability and performance.
- Read & understand business contracts/SOPs/SLAs.
- To identify opportunities & threats from a market perspective.
- To be aware of, and act in accordance with, all P&O Ferrymasters policies
- To bring to the attention of your manager any matter that could be detrimental to the well-being of the Company.
- To carry out any other duties which may reasonably be required by your manager.
Your profile
- Very good working knowledge of English language and another European language
- Good knowledge of MS Office packages
- Topographical knowledge
- Clear and direct communication skills
- 2-3 years of sales experience preferably within a transport operation
- Accuracy
- Team player
