P&O Ferrymasters calls for action on climate
16th December 2009
Leading European logistics provider P&O Ferrymasters has joined other major companies in calling on world leaders meeting in Copenhagen to take urgent action on climate change.
P&O Ferrymasters’ Managing Director Bas Belder has signed up to the Copenhagen Communiqué on Climate Change, which has been organised by the Prince of Wales's corporate leaders group on climate change based at the University of Cambridge.
The statement calls for an “ambitious, robust and equitable deal on climate change that responds credibly to the scale and urgency of the crises facing the world today” and has now been signed by more than 900 companies from around the world. The communiqué has been timed to coincide with the UN’s Climate Change Conference which takes place in Copenhagen from 7 – 18 December.
Bas Belder said: “P&O Ferrymasters is fully committed to working with our customers on a reliable, efficient, secure supply chain and achieving low-carbon economic sustainability by using innovative, sustainable and integrated supply chain solutions.
“This not only recognises the importance of the environment to our customers’ long-term development, but also further progresses and enhances our own commitment. This is in the best interests of our customers, our people and our stakeholders. I am therefore proud to support and sign the Copenhagen Communiqué on behalf of P&O Ferrymasters.”
