P&O Ferrymasters is one of the original 12 founders of the innovative Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) launched by the UK's Freight Transport Association.
Now supported by more than 75 members with some 60,000 commercial vehicles, the scheme is a voluntary industry-led response to the climate change agenda that aims to record, report and reduce CO2 emissions from road freight.
Backed by the UK Department for Transport, the initiative measures fuel consumption in member companies and expresses the data as emissions by using government-approved conversion factors.
LCRS participants want to provide accurate feedback on the logistics sector's carbon footprint so that any government requirements for carbon reduction can be based on hard evidence.
As a leading member of the scheme, P&O Ferrymasters is underlining its commitment to reliable, safe and sustainable supply chain solutions that safeguard the environment for future generations while optimising the opportunities for economic development.
