Green Freight Europe

In About Us / The Environment

P&O Ferrymasters is a pro-active member of the GREEN FREIGHT EUROPE (GFE) programme, launched in March 2012 to help reduce road freight carbon emissions and foster collaboration among freight stakeholders across Europe.

GFE is a voluntary, industry-led initiative that establishes a methodology for measuring and reporting CO2 emissions, enabling improved procurement decisions and collaboration between carriers and shippers that help to minimise emissions.  The scheme is also a platform for companies to share best practices, promote innovations and communicate generally on various sustainability efforts.

P&O Ferrymasters believes that reducing transport emissions can best be achieved through close collaboration between carriers and shippers, building on industry standards and tools offered by programmes such as GFE.

For 2015 P&O Ferrymasters has been awarded a GFE Leaf having submitted CO2 data to the scheme and demonstrated awareness of CO2 reduction strategies and identified opportunities to improve.
