Quality Management Programmes

In About Us / Quality

To ensure that we apply best industry practice to all our activities, we operate to both internally established quality standards and to specific industry standards.

The P&O Ferrymasters Assessment Standard System (PASS) programme is based on the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) model. This is primarily aimed at improving business performance for our customers, employees and public at large and defines our procedure based systems and self assessment programme.

To demonstrate that we comply with customers' expectations in the chemical industry sector, key operational locations are externally assessed under the CEFIC (European Chemical Industry Council) SQAS (Safety & Quality Assessment System).

Similarly, for clients in the foodstuffs industry, the competence and quality of our temperature controlled goods activity is assessed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard. Our Europoort office has BRC Storage and Distribution certification as base for operations by our own trailer fleet. In addition, the foodstuffs activities in our Dover and Amsterdam offices are BRC certified for the distribution of chilled, frozen and ambient packed products and food packaging materials.
